President Bola Tinubu expressed confidence in his administration’s progress in combating insecurity, particularly in Nigeria’s North-East region. During a nationwide broadcast marking Nigeria’s 64th Independence Anniversary, Tinubu stated, “We are winning the war against insecurity,” while acknowledging the ongoing hardships Nigerians are enduring.
The president highlighted the successful neutralization of over 300 insurgent commanders within the last year, which has allowed displaced communities to safely return to their homes.
He also reassured the public that his administration remains committed to implementing the judiciary’s judgment on local government autonomy, ensuring a stronger democratic process across all tiers of government.
Addressing the issue of hunger, President Tinubu commended state governments, including those of Zamfara, Benue, Taraba, and several southwestern states, for their support of agricultural initiatives aimed at tackling food insecurity.
Recognizing the immense suffering faced by Nigerians, Tinubu expressed empathy for their struggles and reaffirmed his government’s efforts to restore peace and economic stability. His administration, he said, is leveraging innovative strategies to address the root causes of conflict.
On youth empowerment, Tinubu emphasized the implementation of various initiatives, including soft loans, to support young Nigerians facing significant challenges. He also announced the establishment of a youth conference aimed at fostering greater participation in national issues, offering young people a platform to engage in policy discussions and contribute to decision-making.
This initiative, according to the president, will harness the energy, creativity, and innovative ideas of Nigerian youth to drive positive change, contributing to the nation’s development.
President Tinubu called on all citizens to join hands in building a prosperous Nigeria where every individual can thrive.
