A tragic plane crash in Sao Paulo state, Brazil, has resulted in the loss of all 62 people onboard, according to local officials. The incident occurred northeast of Sao Paulo city, and Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva has expressed sorrow over the devastating news, offering condolences to the families of the victims.
The crash involved a plane operated by the Brazilian airline Voepass, which crashed in the town of Valinhos. Officials confirmed there were no survivors and minimal damage to a local residential complex where the plane came down, fortunately causing no injuries to residents.
Details regarding the cause of the crash are yet to be confirmed by Brazilian airport authorities, although images and videos shared by news outlets depict the wreckage of the ATR72-500 aircraft engulfed in flames.
Flightradar24, an air traffic tracking service, confirmed via social media that the aircraft involved was an ATR72-500, manufactured in 2010, and was en route to Sao Paulo from Cascavel airport in Parana state.
