In a recent interview with News Central TV, Peter Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, expressed his willingness to serve as Nigeria’s Vice President, but only if the role aligns with his vision for national development.

Obi emphasized that his primary concern is Nigeria’s progress, not his personal political ambitions. While not fixated on becoming President, he stated that he would consider the Vice Presidency if it presented an opportunity to advance the country’s development.

“For me, I’m not desperate to be Nigeria’s President. I am desperate to see Nigeria work,” Obi said when asked about his interest in the vice-presidential role. “If I see people who can do the work better, I will consider it.”

Obi also highlighted the importance of integrity in any potential political partnership, rejecting any collaboration that prioritizes power over progress. “I will not join anybody for state capture or just to win an election. I want to know how we are going to ensure that no child is left behind and how we will return millions of out-of-school children back to school.”

During the 2023 presidential election, Obi garnered over six million votes, accounting for about 25.4% of the total votes cast, placing him third in the race.
