The Edo State Government has announced the postponement of the resumption of all public and private schools in the state, which was originally scheduled for Monday, September 9, 2024. The new resumption date has been placed on hold until further notice.
In an official statement released by the Ministry of Education, the government cited the ongoing challenges caused by the recent increase in fuel prices, which has resulted in tension across the state. The statement emphasized the difficulties parents and guardians are currently facing as a primary reason for the decision to delay school activities.
The government also urged parents, guardians, and caregivers to remain vigilant and monitor the activities of their children and wards during this period, considering the unrest caused by the economic situation.
The announcement was signed by Ojo Akin-Longe, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education, on behalf of the Honourable Commissioner for Education.
