Tinubu Appoints Michael Hadi Ango as Acting Chairman of FCT-IRS

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of Mr. Michael Hadi Ango as the Acting Chairman of the Federal Capital Territory Internal Revenue Service (FCT-IRS). The announcement was made in a statement issued on Friday by Anthony Ogunleye, the Director of Press for the Office of the FCT Minister.

According to the statement, Mr. Ango brings over 20 years of experience in revenue administration, financial management, and organizational leadership across both public and private sectors. He holds an LLM from Columbia University School of Law, New York (2019), a Bachelor of Law degree from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria (2002), and completed his training at the Nigeria Law School in 2003. Additionally, he attended Harvard Kennedy School’s Executive Education in Comparative Tax Policy and Administration in 2013.

Ogunleye highlighted Ango’s diverse work experience, including roles such as Partner and Head of the Tax Advisory and Regulatory Services Unit at Andersen LP, Head of Legal and Stakeholders Relations at the Nigeria Incentive-Based Risk Sharing System for Agricultural Lending (NIRSAL) PLC, Head of Policy and Public Affairs at Guinness Nigeria PLC, Technical Advisor and Head of the Technical Team to the CEO of the Federal Inland Revenue Service, and Analyst to Manager in Tax, Regulatory, and People Services at KPMG Professional Services, Nigeria.

The statement further noted that Ango has served on several strategic committees, including the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms, the President Ethics Committee of the FIA (International Automobile Federation), and the Fiscal Policy Reform Committee of the Federal Ministry of Finance. He is also a member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria and the International Association of Privacy Professionals, among others.

As Acting Chairman of the FCT-IRS, Ango, who hails from Kebbi State, will be responsible for overseeing the implementation of strategic initiatives aimed at enhancing revenue generation and ensuring fiscal sustainability.
