Omoyele Sowore, the convener of the #RevolutionNow Movement, has urged Nigerians to prepare for a nationwide shutdown in response to President Bola Tinubu’s recent address during the ongoing#EndBadGovernance protests.

Speaking on News Central TV, Sowore criticized Tinubu’s speech for failing to address any of the protesters’ demands, signaling a continuation of public demonstrations.

In his statement, Sowore dismissed the government’s ability to meet the people’s needs, stating, “They have nothing to offer you. What you saw in the speech, which I did not bother to listen to, was empty. There is no willingness on their part to engage with the issues. We have 15 demands, none of which were addressed.”

He highlighted the worsening social and economic conditions affecting Nigerians, asserting, “The good news is that this has galvanized us for further action. Nigerians returned to the barricades today in Lagos, and tomorrow, coinciding with the fifth anniversary of our #RevolutionNow, we are mobilizing nationwide for massive action.”

Sowore called on citizens to stockpile food and urged workers and transporters to abstain from their duties to bring about a complete shutdown. “We want the roads deserted. We want the system paralyzed to show that Nigerians, not those in Abuja, are the true owners of this country,” he emphasized.

His call for action underscores growing discontent and frustration with the government’s perceived indifference to the plight of the people amidst escalating protests across Nigeria.
