Peter Obi, the 2023 Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, has responded to his critics by urging them to shift their focus from attacking him to addressing the widespread hardship faced by Nigerians. Obi’s comments come in the wake of accusations from Bayo Onanuga, spokesperson for President Bola Tinubu, who has accused Obi of inciting unrest and labeled him a failed presidential candidate responsible for any potential crises.
In a post on X, Obi challenged his detractors to redirect their efforts toward improving the lives of ordinary Nigerians. He wrote, “I urge you to channel your energy and resources towards helping everyday Nigerians who are struggling to find their next meal, secure education for their children, gain employment, and access adequate healthcare.”
Obi criticized those who, he claimed, were more interested in spreading falsehoods rather than addressing the urgent needs of the poor. He emphasized the importance of focusing on the real issues affecting citizens, such as lack of access to medicine and basic necessities.
Obi concluded his message with a call for unity: “Pay attention to the voices of reason from individuals and institutions that highlight the plight of our citizens. Let us unite in building a nation where everyone can thrive.”
