The Ibadan Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has achieved a significant legal victory, with 33 individuals convicted and sentenced to various jail terms. The convictions were handed down by esteemed justices, including Ladiran Akintola, Adebukola Olajide, M.O. Ishola, B.B. Adebowale, and Uche Agomoh, from the Oyo State High Court, Ibadan; Ogun State High Court in Abeokuta, and the Federal High Court, Ibadan, Oyo State.
The offenders faced separate one-count charges related to cybercrimes. The convictions were announced by Dele Oyewale, the Head of Media and Publicity of the EFCC, in a statement released on Monday.
Among those sentenced are Amos Temitope Taiwo, Fatai Habeeb Mayowa, Lateef Aremu, Abiona Itunuoluwa Solomon, and others. The charges revolved around various cybercrimes, and the convictions send a strong message against fraudulent activities in the digital space.
