Nigerian vocalist Omah Lay, whose real name is Stanley Omah Didia, in an interview with media personality Wunmi Bello on Thursday narrated how his spiritual beliefs transformed after entering the music industry. Although he considered converting to Islam at one point, ultimately his outlook took a different turn.
When I began to earn a profit, “expressed Omah Lay, ” I developed an unwavering faith in God and adopted a more humane approach rather than solely relying on religious practices.”
He further elaborated: “I no longer find religion enjoyable due to my upbringing in a Christian home and spending numerous hours attending church services. At some point in my life’s journey, I thought of becoming a Muslim. However, presently it is only me and God without any form of religious affiliation. The issue is that I don’t have any knowledge about religion.”
Regarding holy texts and their authenticity or lack thereof, Omah Lay expressed skepticism: “These are merely books for which there is no evidence indicating whether they were written by God or His servants.”
As such, he stated: “At this moment in time, all I am certain of is that there exists a power moving me around – something somewhere must be controlling everything happening here- and for me that force can only be attributed to God.”
