MD/CEO of ECTS, Hauwa Dupe Commends Governor Godwin Obaseki’s Compassion for Edo Citizens as Passengers Advocate for Extension of Free Transport

Mrs. Hauwa Dupe Ohikhuai, the Managing Director/CEO of Edo City Transport Services (ECTS), has expressed her admiration for Governor Godwin Obaseki’s steadfast commitment to the welfare of the people of Edo State, particularly within the broader framework of his agenda.

During her interaction with journalists, Mrs. Hauwa underscored the resounding success achieved through the free transport services provided by Edo City. These services were introduced in response to Governor Godwin Obaseki’s directive to alleviate the challenges faced by citizens of Edo.

She attributed this remarkable achievement to Governor Obaseki’s unwavering support and logistical resources since its inception on September 11, 2023.

Mrs. Hauwa noted a substantial increase in travelers, with almost a 90% uptick due to individuals now being able to visit their villages for farming and check on their elderly parents without exorbitant transportation costs set by commercial drivers hampering them.

Additionally, she encouraged passengers traveling intercity routes to express gratitude towards the governor while behaving responsibly at terminals. “It is important that they recognize that funds saved during this period could be channeled elsewhere in family life,”she said. “I expect them always to have an opportunity to travel.”

Mrs. Obasogie Bridget, supervisor at Ramat terminal highlighted significant success regarding free transport services where elderly people can travel daily without financial constraints as opposed previously when commercial drivers charged N7k from Benin-Akokoedo and N5k from those traveling Auchi- Esan central respectively earning deep gratitude from passengers toward state government

Upon further investigation, it was revealed that passengers traveling Ubiaja are appealing for extension of free transport service especially during these challenging economic times

Mr Peter Michael civil servant expresses his gratitude stating “I travel twice weekly to Ubiaja and cost is high This supports allows me save more money which I sincerely thank governor for such gesture”Elder F.E Ikede pensioner who travels weekly also expressed relief due reduction In financial burden conveying appreciation towards governor while appealing scheme extension helping many less fortunate individual travelling back home

Civil Servant Mrs Kate Omoike appreciated compassionate gesture allowing saving money essential family needs. Mr Osaro Ogbeiwe typically paid N5k now having additional fundings vital providing family earnestly requested extension till feb next year.First time traveler using Free Transport Service. Juliana Amainuwa appealed scheme’s extension into next year emphasizing assistance it provides numerous farmers, traders and civil servants across state.

 

Further reports show five routes overseeing intercity free transport services performing well with full advantage taken by passengers moving seamlessly within town
