In adherence to the directive from the State Government, conveyed through the Edo State Waste Management Board and the Ministry of Environment and Sustainability in collaboration with the Local Government Council, Ogheghe Market, located on Sapele Road, has officially become part of the Monday Market Sanitation program.
The women of Ogheghe Market joined in initiating Monday Market Sanitation. All the shops were observed to be locked, and traders were actively engaged in cleaning the market environment.
An eyewitness who spoke with Eyesofafrika Tv, Miss Rita Ozoko, expressed her delight upon learning that the market would remain closed until 9 am for sanitation activities to take place. She noted that the market and its surroundings had been plagued by unsanitary conditions and expressed gratitude to the management and the government for this initiative, hoping that the sanitation efforts continues.
Mrs. Cynthia Ogbe, a trader in the market, also conveyed her satisfaction with the new policy and appealed to the management to sustain the Monday morning sanitation initiative.
